ABOUT PES LIBRARY

Library Vision



The University library is a Centre of Excellence and it must share with the University the aspiration to be the most dynamic learning environment at the Global level. The PES library embraces the rich heritage and vibrant future of the user community; the library must create opportunities to participate, connect and discover by:

 Encouraging freedom of access to information resources
 Offering library space for users and ideas to come together
 Providing materials and programs that entertain and inspire

The library is committed to provide excellent service and to manage the physical and financial assets of the library. To achieve this goal, the library:

  Ensures that its collection policy is forward-looking; further, the collection is diverse in breadth and of international quality.
  Make users aware of the resources available to them, and through innovation, the resources (even online) made available easily.
  Preserves information across all formats and ensures effective storage and delivery systems, for future generation.
  Ensures that physical and virtual spaces are in accordance with the changing habits of its users.
  Collaborates with other institutions which are similar in nature.
  Act as both real and virtual classroom.

Library Mission



The Library's mission is to provide comprehensive information resources and services to support the research, teaching, and learning needs of the University teaching, research and students community. In order to achieve this mission, the University library:

 Understands the research, teaching, and learning needs of its users;
 Build collections and create tools to support research, teaching, and learning;
 Provide access to local and external information resources;
 Ensure the preservation and long-lasting availability of Library collections and resources;
 Maintain hospitable physical and virtual environments for study, teaching, and research;
 Collaborate with other Departments of the University to enrich the research and learning community;

Develop, encourage, and sustain expertise, skill, commitment and an innovative ideas in library staff.

Library Values



University Library staff affirms and supports the values of the University, including respect, responsibility, discovery, and excellence. In addition to this, the library staff must uphold the following values:

 Users:
The PES library values its users, regardless of their level of expertise or affiliation, as the foundation of its mission; each user of the library is unique and important.

 Service:
The principal goal is to provide the best quality service possible, at all times, to all our users. Offer an environment that supports creativity, flexibility and collaboration. Assess user needs and satisfaction continually. Promote existing services fully.

 Management:
Maintain the collections and facilities for future generations of scholars. Must make the most efficient use of scarce resources. Plan for the challenges which will confront the administration in the future. Work together as a team for the greater good of the Libraries and the University.

 Access:
Freedom of access to information in all forms and for all persons is our most cherished principle. We treasure the library ideals of free speech, open inquiry, accessibility, and equality; all of which are upheld by our collections, our services, our policies, and our procedures.

 Library Staff:
The library respects and admires the fellow employees, regardless of their job assignment, as the most valuable asset.

 Communication:
Engage in open and honest communication at all levels.
