Library Rules

Library users are requested to observe the following guidelines.

  • A person desirous of using the Library facilities shall enter his/her name, SRN, department and time of entry legibly and sign in the register kept at the library entrance for the purpose.
  • Users have to deposit their bags at the Library Property Counter.
  • Silence, decorum and discipline must be maintained in the Library.
  • Readers should ensure that the cell phones are in switch off or silent mode at all times in the Library.
  • Readers should not mark, write, or tear pages in the Library documents.Readers shall be liable to pay for any damages caused by them to the Library books and material.
  • Online and offline services are for academic use only and not to be used for commercial purposes.
  • Users of the library should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library material in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged with the full replacement cost of the material.
  • Spitting, smoking, napping, drinking tea/coffee and edibles, and any other behaviour which may disturb other users are strictly prohibited inside the library.
  • Special care should be taken to see that the Library cards are not misplaced or lost. All losses are to be reported immediately to the Librarian.
  • User of PES University resources agrees to the fair use and permissible use of online and offline resources within its domain.
  • Unauthorized removal of books or damaging the property of the library or misbehavior with the library staff is considered as an act of indiscipline, which will call for disciplinary action as per University norms.
  • Users are not allowed to change, alter or vary any of the computer settings, install software or pass on access codes for the use of subscribed software/databases of the library to others who are not on the rolls of the University.
  • The University reserves its rights to take necessary action/s against the users found stealing/ damaging the books in the Library.
  • Any violation of the aforementioned undertaking will result in suspension, cancellation, or permanent blacklisting of the user from the privilege of admission to and borrowing of the books from the library.
  • Systematic downloading, distributing, or retaining substantial portions.
  • Forwarding electronic versions of articles or the use of electronic articles for commercial purposes.
  • Strictly prohibited to download entire journal issues or databases or an entire e-book.
